Three Twinkie Facts You Must Know

With Hostess filing for bankruptcy, the Internet has exploded into Twinkie mania. Ebay auctions have ended with prices exploding to over 5x the street value. What should you be doing? How can you capitalize? Where is the safe money investing? Before you jump in – you must know the following 3 facts.

  1. Twinkies Aren’t Gone – Someone will buy the name and keep making them.  So Sell!
  2. Unions didn’t destroy Hostess – the change in people’s diets did.
  3. Ding Dongs won’t survive – while there may not be as many collectors, they will pay top dollar.

Veteran’s Day – 5 best war movies

While we are always confused about the difference between Veteran’s day and Memorial Day, we aren’t confused on how we like to celebrate that day.  Staying away from the VA and other charitable visits and instead sitting on our couch watching non-stop war movies.

  1. Band of Brothers – Is it a TV series or movie – who cares.  Any movie that can make David Schwimmer seem like a decent actor must be awesome and takes our number one pick.
  2. Saving Private Ryan – Besides Tom Hanks killings people, the opening landing scene alone would put this in anyone’s top 5 list.
  3. Patton – George C. Scott’s best movie not involving talking dolphin remains a classic. Ignore the bad special effects and revel in the glory of a general that was unstoppable in war.  Fun fact – Patton died in a car crash.
  4. Black Hawk Down – The final battle count was 19 Americans  Vs 1,000 Somalis.  We still consider it a loss.
  5. Force 10 from Navarone – This film barely beats out Kelly’s Heroes to be included in the top 5.  A little less hippy Donald Sutherland and a little more Clint Eastwood and we might have rerversed our voting.

Jeff Gordon – NASCAR King of Rude

Our least favorite non-real sport has erupted with controversy as the four time champion, Jeff Gordon, purposefully crashed into Clint Bowyer and took him out of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix. Gordon claimed he had just simply had enough of Clint trying to run him off the road.

With Gordon’s teammate Jimmie Johnson (not the real sport NFL coach) out of the race, a strong finish for Bowyer would have taken him into this weekend’s season finale race with a chance of becoming champion. Instead, he now has no hope for a title.

Windows 8 is a Disaster!

Steve Sinofksy OUT!

Just weeks after Windows 8 release, the project lead Steve Sinfksy has been canned. AllThingsD says Sinofski left due to tension with other Microsoft executives. The decision for him to leave was mutual for all of the executives Sinoski was tense with.

The Windows 8 release has met lukewarm reviews as it tries to appease tablet, phone, and desktop users with a similar interface even though 1/3 of those users have mice and keyboards that don’t click to their screens.

REDMOND, Wash. — Nov. 12, 2012 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that Windows and Windows Live President Steven Sinofsky will be leaving the company and that Julie Larson-Green will be promoted to lead all Windows software and hardware engineering. Tami Reller retains her roles as chief financial officer and chief marketing officer and will assume responsibility for the business of Windows. Both executives will report directly to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

These changes are effective immediately.

“I am grateful for the many years of work that Steven has contributed to the company,” Ballmer said. “The products and services we have delivered to the market in the past few months mark the launch of a new era at Microsoft. We’ve built an incredible foundation with new releases of Microsoft Office, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Microsoft Surface, Windows Server 2012 and ‘Halo 4,’ and great integration of services such as Bing, Skype and Xbox across all our products. To continue this success it is imperative that we continue to drive alignment across all Microsoft teams, and have more integrated and rapid development cycles for our offerings.”

“It is impossible to count the blessings I have received over my years at Microsoft. I am humbled by the professionalism and generosity of everyone I have had the good fortune to work with at this awesome company,” Sinofsky said.

Since 1993, Larson-Green has worked on and led some of the most successful products for Microsoft, including the user experiences for early versions of Internet Explorer, and helped drive the thinking behind the refresh of the user experience for Microsoft Office. For Windows 7 and Windows 8 she was responsible for program management, user interface design and research, as well as development of all international releases. She has a master’s degree in software engineering from Seattle University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Washington University. In her new role she will be responsible for all future Windows product development in addition to future hardware opportunities.

“Leading Windows engineering is an incredible challenge and opportunity, and as I looked at the technical and business skills required to continue our Windows trajectory — great communication skills, a proven ability to work across product groups, strong design, deep technical expertise, and a history of anticipating and meeting customer needs — it was clear to me that Julie is the best possible person for this job, and I’m excited to have her in this role,” Ballmer said.

Reller joined Windows in 2007 from the Microsoft Dynamics Division where she held a number of leadership positions. She began her career in technology at Great Plains Software in 1984 while still in college, and was the company’s chief financial officer at the time the company was acquired by Microsoft in 2001. She has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Minnesota State University Moorhead and an MBA from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif. In her expanded role she will assume the lead in driving business and marketing strategy for Windows devices, including Surface and partner devices, in addition to her current marketing and finance responsibilities.

While every parent wants to teach their kid to save money so they can support them in their old age and failing social security but having a piggy bank teaches your children three disastrous truths.

  3. Animals Are Banks – this is not true of most animals including pigs.

Republicans: We are STOOPID

Using an old magician’s trick, the Republican party is desperately trying to divert attention away from their failed policies and rape ticket.  This past week Ars Technica, C-Net, and other website’s not used to be being played by national politicians have proclaimed the failure of Orca is what cost Mitt Romney the Presidency.  The truth is, Nate Silver and other correct pollsters had been predicting the Obama victory for weeks if not Months.
